Age 75
Lida Holota, 75, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on Wednesday April 7, 2021 at Abington Hospital. Lida was born on June 30, 1945 in Hamburg Germany, and is the daughter of Anna Tkacz (nee Preshesmitzka) and Andrei Holota. She immigrated to the U.S. with her mother and sister in 1949 and grew up in Philadelphia. Lida graduated from Northeast High School in 1963 and Drexel University in 1967 with a B.A. in Business Administration. Although Lida started out working in advertising, she later transitioned to the non-profit sector, eventually working at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and later Fox Chase Cancer Center. Lida also resided in Oslo, Norway and Glenside, PA before returning to live in Philadelphia in 2017. Always up for traveling, Lida often visited Norway to see her friends as regularly as possible. Lida was also active at the Unitarian Society of Germantown (USG), serving in several volunteer / committee roles, before later working for USG in a part time capacity once she had retired. Lida is survived by her son Alek Vey, daughter-in-law Madeline Vey, and grandchildren Anna Harris and Garrett, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces / nephews, cousins, and many wonderful close friends. She is pre-deceased by her sister Nela Wilson, mother Anna Tkacz, father Andrei Holota, and stepfather Anton Tkacz.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, at the Unitarian Society of Germantown at 11AM ET, Rev. Kent Matthies presiding. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Lida’s memory to the ALS Society of Philadelphia.
